Full of the sound of the Gran Fury, signifying nothing.

Ooh, I love me some 1st gen Fiesta. A neighbor friend of mine had one back in the eighties in that nice bright yellow. My future garage full of odd and underappreciated cars will have one, in that same color.
And is it just me, or does this car look better with US-spec round sealed beams than it does with Euro lights?

Big round driving/fog lights make everything better. I had a pair of 7" driving lights with 130W bulbs on the Vanagon. If someone didn’t move over after a couple of polite flash-to-pass signals I would fire up those suckers and melt the plastic off of their bumper. Good times...

The XR2 model came with round ones in Europe too.

I think what makes these lights good is the square setting around the round lights. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but without the square around them I think they’d be cartoonish.

My first car was a yellow ‘79 Mk 1 Fiesta. I didn’t inherit it until ‘91, at which time I rebuilt the engine with new XR2 head, 9.2:1 pistons, header, and Monza exhaust. All parts were mail ordered from the British Automotive Transfer (B.A.T.) catalog. I terrorized the traffic circles of southern New Jersey as a teenager. Ended up selling it in ‘94 for $400.
